Violet Marie Cowart

Violet Marie Cowart, 98, of Lumberton, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016. She was a true jewel. Violet was a loving and caring woman. She would always be there for her friends or church family and make them chicken and dumplings. She would send cards by the thousands, always personally selecting one for each person. She was a member of Lumberton United Pentecostal Church, later Parkway Life. In later years she attended The Apostolic Church of Beaumont. She loved to travel and visit. She never was one to sit around the house. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, A.T. Langham; second husband, J.M. Cowart; and great grandson, Robby Langham.

She is survived by her children, Virgil Langham, Sr. and wife, Linda of Lumberton, Barbara Mitchell and husband, Kenneth of Lumberton, and Jo Shelton of Lumberton; grandchildren, Robert Neal Langham, Thomas Langham and wife, Katherine, Virgil Neal Langham, Jr., Deanna Young and husband Dusty, Renee Roundtree, Tim Mitchell and wife, Debbie, and Kevin Shelton; 9 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Joyce Beard of Lumberton.

Her family will receive friends at Lumberton Family Funeral Home on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Dusty Young. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.

Serving as pallbearers will be Thomas Langham, Tim Mitchell, Kevin Shelton, Matt Newton, Jeff Rountree, and Gene Rountree.
