Theodore Ray “Teddy” Kehtel, 73, of Silsbee, went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, November 23, 2016 from his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was a good Christian man and a good family man. He proudly served his country and retired from the U.S. Army. After Teddy retired from the Army, he worked as a game warden and then was a truck driver for Landolt Oil. He later went to drive for Conns Appliances where he logged in over 2 million miles. Teddy enjoyed farming, raising his animals and growing fruits and vegetables.  He also loved to go fishing. His grandkids were the center of his world and he loved them very much.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Grace Kehtel; brothers, Bud Kehtel, Louis Kehtel, Frances Lee Kehtel, and Dicky Kehtel; sisters, Rose Boseworth and Maxine Williamson.

Teddy is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Cathee Kehtel of Silsbee; sons, Ted Kehtel, Jr. (Jen) of Buffalo, TX, Jeff Van Gundy (Cissy) of Schertz, TX; daughters, Rachel Gillett (Brian) of Dilley, TX, Tammy Jones (Robert) of League City, TX, Dawn Michetich (Anthony) of Lago Vista, TX, and Cathee Brackin of Pineland, TX; grandchildren, Taylor Ham, Romii Jones, Jonathon Brackin (Amy), Victoria Brackin, Shelby Kehtel, Bronte’ Cormier, Chandler Hilburn, Clayton Gillett, Micah Kehtel, Callah Kehtel, Hannah Grace Kehtel, Marek Michetich, Joseph Moreno, and Jerry Moreno; great-grandchildren, Mahlani Ham, Jackson Brackin, and Owen Brackin; numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved so much; and his little dog, Bear.

His family will receive friends at Lumberton Family Funeral Home Sunday November 27, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday November 28, 2016 at Woodcrest United Methodist Church of Lumberton, officiated by Pastor Rick Sitton. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park of Beaumont.

Serving as pallbearers will be Fred Goodman, Phil Kilgore, Charlie Best, Jerry Fortenberry, Russell Fisher and Hal Burton. Honorary pallbearers are David Kehtel Kenneth Kehtel, Ted Kehtel, Jr., Jeff Van Gundy, Jonathon Brackin, Shelby Kehtel, Micah Kehtel, Romii Jones, Clayton Gillett, Marek Michetich, Joseph Moreno, Jerry Moreno, Jackson Brackin, and Owen Brackin.
