Robert Michael Bayless

Robert "Big Mike" Bayless, 60, of Lumberton, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016, in Galveston, Texas. He was an automobile painter for 30 years at Vin's Paint & Body Shop in Beaumont. He greatly enjoyed playing golf and loved gardening in his flower bed. Most of all, he was a wonderful husband and father.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Lois Bayless, and his brother Alvin Julius Bayless, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Phyllis Bayless of Lumberton; his sons, Michael Greenwood of Lumberton, and Frank O'Connell and wife, Kathy O'Connell, of Lumberton; grandchildren, Taylor Greenwood of Lumberton, Trace Greenwood of Lumberton, Olivia O'Connell of Lumberton; brothers, Larry Dale Bayless of Oklahoma, Ronald Wayne Bayless, Gary Dean Bayless; sister, Brenda Kay McCulough; aunt, Annie Burkett of Lumberton; uncle, Billy Burge of Lumberton, Dan "Buddy Burge and wife, Hazel, of Lumberton; and numerous cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, April 15, 2016, at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, officiated by his son, Michael Greenwood. Honorary pallbearers are Vincent Samuel Oliva, Tom Kirk, and Carl Lightfoot.
