Reba Evelyn Shelander, 85, of Lumberton, Texas went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 22, 2018. Reba was born on August 28, 1932 to Donald and Lena Johnson in Rose City, Texas. Reba was a graduate of Vidor High School and went on to receive a Master of Secondary Education from Sam Houston State Teachers College. Reba taught in the Vidor ISD for 34 years; she would be a volunteer in the school district for many years after retiring.
Reba loved her students and fellow teachers and they loved her; she was a mentor to many people. Reba was a good mother and grandmother but was known as a woman with a definite opinion.
Reba is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Lena Johnson; her husband, Doyle Shelander; and a brother, Durwood Johnson.
Reba is survived by her daughter, Donna Glach, and husband, Bobby; grandchildren, Aaron Doughty, Mark Busceme, and wife, Nancy, Jonathan Busceme, and girlfriend, Meagan Osborne; great grandchildren, Madeline Doughty, and Ava and Bayne Busceme; a niece, Debra Byrd, and husband, Gerald; a nephew, Dee Johnson; a step-brother, Donald Johnson, Jr.; as well as numerous friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in the Chapel at Lumberton Family Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 10:00am at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine St., Beaumont, Texas 77703.
