Linda Lou Jaynes

Linda Lou Jaynes, age 68, passed away Tuesday July 11, 2017.  Her loving husband,  daughters and their husbands were by her side.  She was born to Eddie Myrle Byley and Melba Rue Isom in Port Arthur, Texas on January 2, 1949. 

Linda graduated from Thomas Jefferson high school in Port Arthur, Texas in 1967.  She later attend business school earning her degree in bookkeeping.  She worked for Woolco in the Sporting Department and later at the Methodist Church in Port Arthur.  Linda was married to her beloved husband, Jerry, for 36 years.  They met 37 years ago while attending a singles class at the Methodist Church.  Neither of them belonged to that church and were attending this class for the very first time.  Jerry saw a ring on Linda's wedding finger and wondered why she was in this class.  Later that evening he discovered she was indeed single so he set out to win her heart - and win it he did.  They would spend the next 36 years living the dream and thankful that God allowed this union to happen.  With kids from different marriages and one of their own, they began to build a happy home making it a soft place to land.

When she married Jerry in 1981 he tried to get her to quit her job and be a stay-at-home mom and raise her daughter Jill but she hesitated.  A few months later she called him and said "guess what I did today?"  Jerry knew immediately she had quit her job.  In 1987 Jerry and Linda began their own business as a CAD Service Bureau named Texas Computer Graphics.  Jerry is an engineer and did the work while Linda was in charge of the finances.  In 1983 Linda gave birth to our daughter, Jennifer.  She now had two daughters to raise and she did it well.  She home-schooled Jennifer for a couple of years.  Linda and the girls traveled with Jerry on many of his business trips, making a vacation out of their time.  For 14 years Linda was instrumental in the success of their business until she suffered a stroke in 2001.  She suffered from repeated infections and illnesses monthly which weakened her a little bit more each time.  For the next 15 years her health would decline to the point she became wheel-chair bound and then bed-bound in her last days.  She was a fighter and her love she shared with everyone she met over the years left an indelible mark that cannot be ignored.
Left to honor her memory are her loving husband Jerry Jaynes of Nederland, TX; children include Jill and her husband Ronnie Theriot of Nederland, TX, and grandchildren Carly and Jace. Jennifer and Shane Douga of Nederland, TX, and grandchildren Carter and Cooper. Danyelle and Matt Keller of Denton, TX, and grandchildren Erin, Jessica, Matthew and Emily. Jonathan and Tama Jaynes of League City, TX, and grandchildren Joey, Luke, Gavin, Chad, Mallori and Noah and Krystal and Jim Kelley of Houston, TX, and grandchild Austin; brother David Byley of San Marcos, TX and many loving relatives and friends.  Preceding Linda in death are her parents and sister Diane Ramsey.

The family wishes to thank New Century Hospice and Lumberton Family Funeral Home for the love and compassion they showed Linda during her final days.
