Herman James Ardoin

Herman James Ardoin, age 75, of Kountze, TX, passed away on February 3, 2016. He was born to Roman Ardoin and Viva Fontenot Ardoin on September 25, 1940 in Basile, LA.

Herman moved to Southeast Texas at 18 years of age to find work in a shipyard. He was a loving man. Herman, affectionately known as “Spluke”, was sensitive about things that he loved, never failing to shed a tear if something struck him. Most often the things that made him tearful were his family and his faith in the Lord. He expressed his love to his family, but especially his grandkids, through doing the little things that showed how much he cared. Herman’s family will always remember him spending as much time as possible with them, the candy, the honey buns, the chocolate milk and all the things he did to express his love. Retiring from his career as a pipefitter at the age of 62, he was able to fill his retirement with many things, mostly focused on his family and grandkids activities. Watching his grandson, Roman, play sports was something he tried not to miss.  Cooking was his passion, occupying several of his working years pursuing it, even opening up a meat processing shop called T-Bays. He would always be willing to cook a Cajun dish or Barbecue if someone requested it. Being raised Catholic, he became a member of the Apostolic Church in Beaumont, TX in 2007. 

Left to honor his memory are his sons, Aaron Ardoin and wife, Veronica, of Lumberton, TX and Glenn Blanchard of San Antonio, TX; brothers, Paul Ardoin of Eunice, LA and Phil Ardoin of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Shane Blanchard, Brandie Cason, Savia Ardoin and Roman Ardoin; and great-grandchildren, Kylie Autumn Cason, Gabriel Ivan Blanchard and Ian Edward Blanchard.

Preceding Herman in death were his parents and his brother, Nolan Ardoin.

Visitation with family and friends will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2016, at Lumberton Family Funeral Home at 766 S. Main St. Lumberton, TX. Herman’s life honoring service will follow on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Bro. Wayne Hill officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland, TX.
