Elizabeth Ann “Granny” Parsons, 81, of Lumberton, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born October 31, 1935 in Chilton, TX to her parents Efford and Elsie Clowers. She met the love of her life, Earl, and married on December 3, 1953.  She had many diverse jobs during her long and productive career, she was an office manager for Hertz Rent a Car at the Houston Hobby airport, she worked for Brown and Root in the business office, she worked over 12 years with the Harris County Probation Office, then finally she was best known in as the lady in the pink walker for almost 13 years as a greeter at the Lumberton Walmart. She was an active member in her church, First Baptist Church of Lumberton, where she helped take care of the children as well as many families and friend’s children whom she called her own. Known by everyone as “Granny”, she treated each child she met as truly a special gift, she had such a big heart and a bigger smile.  She would always be available to give a hug and share everything she had for those in need, teaching lessons along the way.  She served as a volunteer at Lumberton Elementary, where she received the Volunteer of the Year Award. A breast cancer survivor, Granny worked to raise money through the Hardin/S. Jasper Relay for Life.  So, successful at energizing people for a good cause, she sponsored a team and was named “Leader of the Pack” in 2013.  If you needed her, she would be there in a heartbeat.  Always thinking of the welfare of others, she conveyed a shining example of living in faith.  She was a member of the Eastern Star, Crosby, Texas, Chapter 261.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Early Clowers, and Billy Clowers.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Earl Parsons of Lumberton; son Clifford Earl “Cliff” Parsons, Jr. of Beaumont; daughter, Teresa Parsons of Kailua, HI; brothers, Robert Clowers and wife, Marlene of Galena Park, and Larry Clowers of Clear Lake; granddaughter, Elizabeth Sims and husband, Dustin of Lumberton; and step-grandchildren, Randall Stowe and Ethan Stowe-Reasoner.

A memorial service at First Baptist Church of Lumberton is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 15, 2017, officiated by Reverend Kyle Warren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Lumberton Building Fund.
