Elbert Lee "Bo" Rives Sr., age 83, passed away Tuesday July 18, 2017. He was born to Samuel Key Rives and Mary Lou Ellen Bush on March 23, 1934 in Hardin, Texas.

Elbert worked in the Oil Field industry where he worked his way to become the owner of J.D. Lowrie Well Services in El Campo, Texas.  Working hard didn't leave Elbert much time for hobbies, but he did enjoy watching his sports teams. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros, and Texas Longhorns; despite the fact that three granddaughters graduated from Texas A & M. While watching the various sports teams, Elbert usually took this time to take a nap. He may have had his eyes closed, but always knew if someone tried to take the remote. Elbert was an Army veteran. One of his proudest moments was being the first to score 100 % on the Mechanics exam.  He was a faithful servant and hardworking family man.  He will be missed by all who loved him but his legacy will continue.

Left to honor his memory is his loving wife of 32 years, Beverly Rives of Orange, TX; sons, Elbert Rives Jr. and wife, Lori, of El Campo, TX, Samuel Key Rives III and wife, Cindy, of Palestine, TX; stepson, Mark  Anthony Malone and wife, Angela, of Corning, AR; stepdaughter, Michelle Diane McNew of Neelyville, MO; sister, Mittie Louise Harrell and husband Jimmy of Bon Weir, TX; grandchildren, Ashley and husband, Brad, Brittany, Kari and fiancé, Andrew, Rebekah, Mark Jr., Nicholas, John Thomas "JT", Alexander, and River; great grandchildren, Emmarie, and Lincoln. Also survived by many loving relatives, friends, and his Eastgate United Pentecostal Church family.

Preceding  in death are his brothers; Samuel Key Henry Jr., George Green, Tommy Claudia, Joseph Paul, Ernest Taylor, Benjamin David, Reginald Thelbert Rives; sisters, Mary Llewelyn Hinklin and Erma Alice Koch.

Visitation with family and friends will be 6:00-8:00 pm, Thursday July 20, 2017 at Eastgate United Pentecostal Church, 290 South St. Vidor, TX 77662. Elbert's life honoring service will be 2:00 pm Friday July 21, 2017 also at the church co- officiated by Pastor Matthew Tuttle and Michael Smith internment at Rest Lawn Memorial Park in Vidor, TX.

Serving as pallbearers are Darryll Jacobs, Blayde Gerdes, Brad Barnes, J.T. Rives, Andrew Kirfman and Stevie Williams. Honorary pallbearers Mark Malone Jr. Roger Rosteet, David Wiggins.
