Dorothy Cile Billings, age 86, passed away Wednesday August 16, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born to Ira D. Sexton and Lettie Mae Wood on February 28, 1931 in Italy, Texas.

Though she was the valedictorian of her graduating class in Broaddus, Texas, Dorothy chose to be a stay at home mother. Her children knew that she would be there when they came home from school. She was probably best remembered for her love of reading and animals. She was concerned that there would not be enough books made for her to read. Baking cookies and making fudge were things she enjoyed doing for her family. Dorothy loved her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed by all who loved her but her legacy will continue.

Left to honor Dorothy's memory are her daughters, Cheryl Turner and husband, Tommy, of Sour Lake, TX, Elaine Hoffpauir and husband, Johnny, of Gonzales, TX; son, Joe Billings and wife, Pam, of Bridge City, TX; she is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Preceding Dorothy in death is her husband Billy Joe Billings; daughters, Billie Diane Billings and Rachel Carouthers; and brother, Joe Sexton.

Visitation with family and friends will be 10:00 am - 11:00 am Saturday August 19, 2017 at First Baptist Church Sour Lake, 765 6th St., Sour Lake, TX 77659 followed by Dorothy's life honoring service at 11:00 am, also at First Baptist Church, officiated by Chaplin Michael Anderson. Internment at Rosedale Cemetery in Sour Lake, TX.

Serving as Pallbearers are Vincent Gongora, Vince Gongora, Jason Gongora, Paul McCorvy, Brandon Carouthers and Tommy Turner.

The family would like to give special thanks to the team at Heart to Heart Hospice. Charlene and Sonya gave exceptional loving care to our mother/grandmother along with sitter, Charlotte Zomperelli.
