Arnold "Arnie" Tevis

Arnold “Arnie” Caldon Tevis, 58, of Lumberton, Texas passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2017.  Arnie was born on December 6, 1958 to Leon Bryan Tevis and Peggy Ernestine Tevis.

Arnie began his career in law enforcement shortly after marrying Jana, his wife of many years.  His first job of law enforcement was at Marshall Police Department in Northeast Texas where he forged a lifetime of friendships that continue to this day.

Arnie fulfilled a lifelong dream when he applied and was accepted into the DPS Academy graduating as a State Trooper with the Class “A” – 1998.  After 15 years of service, Arnie retired on December 13, 2013.  Arnie was currently employed with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department as Courthouse Security.

Arnie’s life was his family.  He loved his daughters and grandson with a fierce, deep, and protective love.  He devoted his life to caring and providing for his family and others.  Anyone who knew Arnie knows he was a big man with a big heart.  He loved with everything he had.

Arnie is preceded in death by his Father Leon Bryan Tevis.  Arnie is survived by his wife, Jana, two daughters, Lauren Tevis of Houston, Texas, and Leslie Smith, husband Andrew and grandson, Beckham of Lumberton; Mother, Ernestine Tevis, brother Kenneth Tevis, and sister Claire Tevis; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
