Alice Margaret Russell
May 26, 1933 ~ May 17, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years OldAlice “Granny” Russell, 84, of Lumberton, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family. She loved to traveled and she loved new adventures. She was very hospitable and would always put the coffee on when receiving visitors. She was always a creative cook and was never afraid to experiment. She had a positive attitude and was always willing to listen. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis “Pete” Russell; parents, Tom and Selina McLendon; son, Tommy Russell; siblings, Gene McLendon, Gertrude Peveto, Dalton McLendon, and Dolton McLendon; and grandson Glen Dale Beard, Jr.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary M. Beard and Jim Blackwell of Lumberton, Mona Mitchell and husband, David of Sour Lake, and Janis Trahan and husband, Billy of St. Augustine; brothers, Arvle McLendon of Sulphur, LA, Ervin McLendon and wife, Carolyn of Sulphur, LA, and Doris Cooper of Lake Charles, LA; grandchildren, Becky Watts and husband, Johnny of Kingsland, TX, Chris Cionek and wife, Cheryl of Lumberton, Kelton Musgrove and wife, Christina of Buna, Christi West and husband, Chad of Kountze, Amy Pate and husband, Richard of Buna, Tonya Smith and husband, Brandon of Sour Lake, Shannon Trahan and wife, Sebrina of Sour Lake, John Trahan and wife, Ashley of Lumberton, Carrie Aylor and husband, Mike of Lumberton, Amanda Miller of Lumberton, Dwayne Mitchell of Sour Lake, and Tomi Russell of Lumberton; 27 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Her family will receive friends at Lumberton Family Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2017. The funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday May 20, 2017 at Gateway Church of Kountze, Officiated by Pastor Chad West. Interment will follow at Leatherwood Cemetery in Lumberton.
Serving as pallbearers are Anton Mitchell, Johnny Watts, Shannon Trahan, John Trahan, Dwayne Mitchell, Bobby Parham, Jr. The honorary pallbearer is Alex Smith.
