Alan Wayne Whitmire, 68, of Lumberton, passed away Monday, May 9, 2016. He loved working on cars and owned a few classics. Alan was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and served a tour of duty in Vietnam where he was lucky enough to land the job of driving around the showgirls. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. Alan was always doing something for somebody. Although he was a quiet man, Alan was always the fun guy. Everybody will miss him and everybody will miss his hugs.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Artie Mae Whitmire; brothers, Burton Whitmire and Nathan “Buddy” Whitmire; sisters, Pearl Ann Crenshaw and Betty Jean Whitmire; and a granddaughter, Carmen Whitmire.

Alan is survived by his wife, Pamela Whitmire of Lumberton; children, Kenneth Franklin Turner and wife, Edwina of Mechanicsville, VA, Timothy Wayne Whitmire of Bridge City, Alyssa Whitmire-Bruzzese and husband Anthony of Fannett; brothers, Talmage Whitmire and wife Karen of Lincoln, ND, Clinton James Whitmire of Bridge City, Roy Whitmire and wife, Edna of Tarkington; sister, Hazel Lee Ezell of Vidor; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Turner, Kenneth Turner, Austin Turner, Darrell Whitmire, Harmony Whitmire, Stormi Whitmire and Trista Patin; great-grandchildren, Khloe Whitmire and Braxton Whitmire; nephew, Wayne Ezell of Lumberton and numerous other relatives.

His family will receive friends at Lumberton Family Funeral Home on Friday, May 13, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The Funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at The Apostolic Church in Beaumont, officiated by Reverend Jason Carr.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rodney Whitmire, Wayne Ezell, Eric Whitmire, Ricky Ezell, Tony Ezell, Kenneth Turner, and Austin Turner.
