Rickey Wayne "Rick" Lewis
November 14, 1958 ~ March 15, 2017 (age 58) 58 Years OldRickey Wayne “Rick” Lewis, 58, of Vidor, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was a good and generous man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Rick was a competitive athlete and a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He was an active member of Eastgate United Pentecostal Church of Vidor. He was an avid outdoorsman, he liked to hunt and fish, anything outside. Rick also enjoyed reading. Rick had a great sense of humor and was always cracking jokes. He was the big brother everybody looked up to and was also a father figure to many. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Arlene Barnett; brothers, Larry Lewis, and Russell Lewis; and step-mother, Nelda Lewis.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 28 years, Kathy Lewis of Vidor; sons, Daniel Lewis and fiancée, Catherine Chauvin of Vidor, and Douglas Thompson and wife, Gwyn of Laguna, CA; siblings, Belinda Baumgardner and husband, Jim of Huntington, TX, LaWanda Odam of AR, and David Lewis of Newton, TX; sister-in-law, Karen Lewis of Vidor; grandchildren, Violet Adriana “Flower” Lewis, Johnny Carpenter, Shay Carpenter, and Emma Carpenter; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday March 17, 2017 at Eastgate United Pentecostal Church of Vidor. The funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Eastgate United Pentecostal Church od Vidor, officiated by Brother Bobby Edwards, Pastor Matt Tuttle, Reverend Don Barber, and Reverend Devin Asher. Interment will follow at Jack Ford Cemetery of Newton.
Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Davis, John Clever, David Lewis, Doug Thompson, Mike Pickering, and Daniel Lewis.
