Luther E. "Curly" Calloway, Sr.

Luther E. “Curly” Calloway, Sr.,  69, of Silsbee, Texas passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.  Curly was born on September 19, 1948 to Onnie and Elsie Calloway in Silsbee. 

Curly was the best mechanic around; on occasion, friends would travel quite a distance so that Curly could work on their cars. Curly had many friends and was loved for his outgoing personality and he was an absolute comedian.  Curly was not perfect, but he was a very special man.  He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.  Curly lived life to the fullest, he kept people on their toes, but, he will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.

Curly is preceded in death by his parents, Onnie and Elsie Calloway; a son, Luther E. “Kojak” Calloway, Jr.; brothers, Thomas Gore, Jody Gore, and W. T. “Red” Calloway.

Curly is survived by his children, a daughter, Linda Smith, a son, David Calloway; grandchildren, and great grandchildren; brothers, Alton Jenkins, and Douglas Gore; sisters, Dell Montgomery, and Rachel Lewis; as well as numerous nieces, and nephews, and a host of friends.

The Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at First Assembly of God Church, 1055 U.S. 69, Kountze, TX 77625.  A Celebration of Life service will follow immediately at the church.
